Hell's Kitchen stands as one of ITVs Crown Jewels, it's iconic, accessible and infinitely expandable. Hell's Kitchen on Roblox needed to bring these qualities to the table. But with intense competition, and an outsider-skeptical player base, we needed every advantage we could get.
4 years of working as part of ITV, and being embedded within the entertainment industry, meant we were able to sit Roblox native developers and showrunners at the same table. This allowed us stick to our mantra of Gameplay First throughout, while remaining focussed on what makes Hell's Kitchen, Hell's Kitchen.
A catchy name might get people in the door, but it won't keep them there. We knew a Hell's Kitchen reskin of an existing popular genre was doomed to fail long term. We needed to use the full suite of Hells Kitchen to create something new, that would be out of reach to any other developer starting from scratch.
Using the intensive competitive cooking mechanics, gameshow window dressing, and some colourful feedback from Chef Ramsay, we created something entirely new in the cooking genre. A game that rejects the nicey-nicey smiley co-operative cooking games like Overcooked and Cooking Mama. And brings the Roblox community something that only Hell's Kitchen can deliver.
